I found somthing interesting on the internet discussing the Canon 40D for astrophotography.
40D seems to be a good camera for astronomical photos because of higher AD resolution (dynamic range) and lower thermal noise level
One of the most important new features is the live-view mode. It will help a lot when focusing a telescopic astro photo shooting.
